Groppo lays at 100 meters on the sea level, half way between Manarola and Volastra.
It has always been safe from incursions of the Saracens since it cannot be seen from the sea. The typical coloured houses, which make up the village, have been built along the steep hills of the area, creating narrow streets and stairs with sudden breathtaking views on the coast and the vineyards.
The Cappun Magru restarant gives you the opportunity to have tasteful dinners, which join the traditional ligurian recipes with the most sophisticated dishes and the best local wines.
In Groppo you can visit the Wine cooperative, which produces the Cinque Terre Doc wine and the Sciachetrà sweet wine, and the old oil mill.
The main paths crossing the Cinque Terre national park run a few minutes walk from Groppo.
